Welcome!

Hello world! You have encountered Pop Lives, a web site dedicated to popular music, or at least popular by my standards. Pop not only lives in these postmodern times, but it is thriving. It is my goal to share with you my enthusiasm for the art form of music by not only allowing you to listen to what I am listening to, but to also inform you of Pop lives: the stories of the artists who make what it is we are listening to. We will encounter these "lives" through interviews, news, photographs, and biographies.

I will obtain web hosting soon, but I am so excited to have my own domain name that I absolutely must post something on Day 1.

We must start things out ceremoniously. Who will it be? Well, Sir Paul McCartney, for me, is an obvious choice. Some of you may be looking for an old favorite, but I am sticking with my decision to select a song that made me cry on a plane ride from my current home, Boston, MA, to my former home, Tampa, FL. That song would be "Jenny Wren" off of Sir Paul's last album, Chaos and Creation in the Backyard.

McCartney has a new album due out June 5. There is an interview with Paul in today's Pitchfork feature.
